Momijiya Honkan Takaosansou

Super freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal in einem schönen, traditionellen Ryokan. Die Umgebung und am nächsten Tag die Wanderung am Fluss zum Bambuswald waren traumhaft. Highlight war der private Onsen, den wir für eine knappe Stunde dazu buchen konnten.

Das Abendessen hat uns ehrlich gesagt etwas enttäuscht. Hier hätten wir uns etwas mehr Erklärung - was essen wir hier genau - und Raffinesse gewünscht. Es ging leider alles sehr schnell und war etwas hektisch.

The staff were great, very friendly and went above and beyond in true Ryokan fashion. The hot baths were great, if a little small. The room we got was very roomy and comfortable for 3 people with 2 toilets and a very well sized separate bathing room.

The slippers that they made us wear were of a material that slid constantly and was impossible to keep on while wearing the socks which they also made you wear. Stairs were a struggle with this combination. I don't know if this the case with all ryokan or if others have slippers made of different materials. The pictures on their website are a little misleading. They make it seem like the rope bridge and forrest paths are all part of the ryokan grounds but when we finally found the rope bridge we were met with a really angry man telling us it was private property. Finally, we booked the private outdoor bath, which was overall a great experience however; they made the fact that it had a wood frame a huge part of the selling point and the wooden frame was funky and honestly needed a cleaning of some kind. This was not a problem in the other baths.

Very rundown not at all as I expected
