Momijiya Honkan Takaosansou

There was a good variety of food, very well presented, it was tasty, very filling. The room itself was very nice, we had mountain view, recommend and we opted for private onsen, also very nice.

Cibo molto buono, vista molto bella. Esperienza che consigliamo anche in vasca privata se possibile e consigliamo di prenotare direttamente al check-in avendo pochi posti.

In generale il bagno della camera aveva un attimo qualche problema e non abbiamo trovato un phone. La vista era incredibile ma il vetro non pulito.. gran peccato.

Een mooie ouderwetse Ryokan. Het personeel was geweldig, heerlijk diner en ontbijt. De futons lagen heerlijk!

Dinner and breakfast are included. Dinner maybe a bit too much for girls. The food is quite delicious, kind of traditional I guess. The view from the room is really beautiful. I wish I could stay longer to have a hike nearby. Highly recommend my friends to visit here:)

The location is next to a beautiful forest

Our stay here was unfortunately underwhelming. From the moment we arrived, everything felt a little too hurried. We were greeted politely and seated right away to choose breakfast and dinner times, but unlike other ryokans we’ve stayed at, no welcome tea was offered. We were then asked if we’d like to reserve a private bath, but only the 9 p.m. slot was still available. The room had a pleasant view of the trees but felt dated and in need of some refreshment. Given the many positive reviews, we assumed the public bath would be the highlight, but it too was small and quite old. It barely fits three persons unless you like skin to skin contact with strangers. Though the view of the autumn foliage was lovely. We were most looking forward to the kaiseki dinner, but it fell short of expectations. The dishes looked fine but were bland and felt rushed, with staff moving quickly to clear plates. They were friendly, but the pace of the meal made it hard to relax. Breakfast was a bit better in quality, though similarly hurried. We’ve visited Japan several times and stayed at various ryokans, and this one unfortunately didn’t capture the calm and attentiveness that make such stays special. If you’re visiting Japan for a short trip and simply want to try a ryokan experience, this place might be convenient. Just be aware that it offers a simplified version of what a traditional ryokan stay can be. It seems to cater mainly to tourists, and that might explain its high ratings. For a more authentic and relaxing experience, I’d recommend staying at a ryokan around Lake Biwa or Amami instead.

Weg zum privaten Onsen etwas beschwerlich, im Dunkeln zwar idyllisch, aber unzureichend beleuchtet

Staff were accomodating, warm and welcome…. just exceptional. Location is breath taking, the food was exquisite and the private onsen was perfect.

The dinner was awesome, but breakfast felt like it was just bowl of rice ( not as fullfilling as dinner set). The room showers have very low water pressure, hard time showering in there.
