"Bene ma non benissimo."

7.0

L'onsen, con possibilità di accedere ad ambiente privato. Personale che parla inglese. Camere ampie in stile tradizionale.

Struttura un po' vecchia e non molto pulita. Zona circostante un po' decadente. Cibo molto basic e senza scelta. Costo da alta stagione.

"Beautiful, authentic Ryokan experience surrounded by nature."

8.0

Beautiful, authentic Ryokan experience surrounded by nature. Wonderful building with inside garden. Several onsens to try out, public, private and in the room. Great service. And I enjoyed the Samue and jacket loungewear for dinner. Beautiful design in the spacious room. And a partial mountain view from the windows.

At arrival room was pretty cold and given the state of the heater/airco it took the first day and night for the room to get past 17 degrees. Luckily they have a warm library room downstairs to warm up. The room looked beautifully authentic but with that the comfort also of course less than that of a modern building. As they warn you in the description: there are quite some bugs entering the room. If you unexpectedly come across them in bed it can be a bit of an unpleasant surprise. The room says dinner included but after booking you receive a message that if you want beef instead of chicken you pay extra and if you want the full dinner course you pay 7.000 yen per person or 14.000 yen extra for a couple on top of the dinner included price. It is an experience especially if you did not try this yet but quite expensive as an add-on, and in our opinion not worth the extra amount The first day we had a great Japanese breakfast. The second a somewhat dissapointing small more western inspired breakfast. Overall happy we stayed to experience this part of Japan.
