Authentic Japanese hotel experience. Great views. Don’t come if don’t want to immerse yourself in Japanese culture. Friendly staff! Excellent Japanese dinner and breakfast. Excellent value as well. We walked to the Rock garden about 2 km away and it is magical.

I wish the bathtub was open longer

The place is easy to find; on the way to the shrine. Comfortable hot bath. Nice view of Tokyo city from the bedroom. Good food (the best in our 7 days trip). Friendly and accommodative host. We love everything!

This is an old, private home style guesthouse and if you set your expectations accordingly you'll have the most wonderful, traditional Japanese experience. The staff is caring but with limited English. Breakfast and dinner were sensational - served traditionally, seated at low tables on the tatami flooring. We wore the yukatas that were provided clean each day. We slept on futons that were rolled out on the floor each night. The pillows are the traditional 'bean filled' lumpy ones. ;-) There are large, segregated shared bathrooms and other shared toilets.

The hosts were absolutely lovely. The view was amazing, the room was clean and spacious, and the cooking exceptional.

The stairs were extremely steep but what do you expect at the top of a mountain!

It was stunning. I love staying at these kind of places, it is so special. These are accommodations which are run by the families of ( former) priests of the temple. They live in the house too, but you don't see or hear them much. The house was stunning, I love the old architecture. The food they made was SO good and much, I was always full. If you do not like sleeping on futons, this is not an option for you. The view on shimmering tokyo was stunning. The room was big and had its own bathroom. The women shared hot bath was clean and nice to use. I have been treaded nicely and with respect.

The food was great, the room well equipped and comfortable.

The bath is a bit small. It can be crowded.
