"Had a great relaxing stay for our family of 4."

It was nice being beside the beach. The sunset was beautiful. Dinner and breakfast were delicious if you like seafood. The fresh abalone and sashimi were the highlights of dinner! The room is cleverly designed with screens for privacy when using the private bath on the balcony.

Wish there were options that were not seafood for my non seafood loving kids.

"A relaxing stay that was a huge standout for our 3 week trip to Japan. Izu is a beautiful place."

10.0

Our stay at Arujisu was absolutely amazing. We stayed for 2 nights in January and are very satisfied. While English among staff is limited, they are respectful and do their absolute best to help and communicate - but there are no issues google translate can’t solve for more complicated conversations. The facilities were clean and simple. Everything is very well maintained despite the building being a bit dated. Having a private onsen on the balcony with a view of the ocean (perfect for sunset) is just an amazing experience. I would also recommend walking into town and enjoying the new observation deck, it’s only a 20-30 minute walk through a lovely quiet town (quiet for us since it was the off season). You get a great view of the bay and there’s a foot bath, cafe/restaurant, and washrooms. Where the true value lies at Arujisu is the dining experience. The food is absolutely exceptional, prepared by incredibly hard working Japanese women. I will say, give yourself about 15 minute buffer before your scheduled meal times as they will come early! (Ex: if your dinner is scheduled for 6:15 PM, be ready by 5:55-6:00 PM) My partner and I have no dietary restrictions, nor are we picky eaters, so if you want to experience authentic & perfectly curated fresh, clean, Japanese seafood - you cannot go wrong here. I’m not sure how easy it would be to communicate allergies/dietary restrictions/preferences to staff or how much customization is possible. You will need to be comfortable deboning fish and handling seafood (ex: crab legs) to get the most of every meal. Every meal really impressed us and we really enjoyed the dining experience. We took trains and buses to get there and it was quite easy/convenient. The walk from the bus station to the property is about 15 minutes but it’s along the ocean with a lovely view. We really enjoyed the walk!

The building is a bit old, it’s not that we didn’t like it though!

"It's Worth the View for a Stay"

9.0

The room with sea view and an open-air bath is the main attraction for this 3-star ryokan. The room rate is reasonable consider breakfast and dinner, sea and sunset view and private onsen-bath.

Away from Toi town and might be a challenge if you do not have a car. However, with a car you could easily visit Toi Gold Mine (10 mins), Lover's Cape (20 minutes), and Cape Koganezaki (30-45 minutes). Arriving by the Suruga Bay Ferry from Shimizu port to Toi port is also very convenient and worth the trip.

"Good traditional onsen"

8.0

Traditional Japanese Onsen. Our room had a private onsen which overlooks the west side of Izu peninsula, and it was beautiful during sunset. Dinner and breakfast was okay, not exceptional

nothing major to complain about.

"Value for money. Good kaiseki."

9.0

Love love love the food here. If you're a seafood lover like me you have to get the half board option for this hotel. The private outdoor onsen is also a nice touch. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I happen to come around this area

The room is a bit small for our family of four. We have very little space to lay out the luggages when the futons are laid out at night. The room also has a slight musty smell. May be due to the private onsen and moisture. The hotel is definitely dated but it appears clean.
