Glamping Wilpattu by Thamaravila

One of the best glamping villas I have ever stayed in! Thamaravila was truly exceptional from start to finish. The property is stunning—beautiful, calm, and completely surrounded by nature—creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at ease. Everything was spotlessly clean, well presented, and thoughtfully maintained. The tents/rooms were spacious, cozy, and extremely comfortable, blending luxury perfectly with the wilderness experience. The staff were absolutely outstanding—super friendly, attentive, and always ensuring we were comfortable. The level of service genuinely exceeded our already high expectations. The food was delicious, especially the traditional Sri Lankan dishes, served in very generous portions. A special mention goes to the chef, who even baked fresh croissants and Danish pastries for us—an unexpected and truly exceptional touch! Security was another major highlight of our stay. The property has 24-hour security service, CCTV cameras around the tents, and regular night patrols carried out by two dedicated security officers. This level of attention made us feel completely safe and well cared for at all times, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy the natural surroundings without any concern. We also booked a safari through the hotel, and it was an unforgettable experience. Thanks to Manusha, a brilliant ornithologist (bird expert) and our extremely knowledgeable guide, we were fortunate enough to see elephants, sloth bears, and leopards all in one day. The safari guides were professional, experienced, and clearly passionate about wildlife. From the warm welcome to the safari and everything in between, everything was perfect. Housekeeping was excellent and went the extra mile to make our stay truly special. Thamaravila truly stands out as an outstanding destination and is a must-visit for wildlife and nature lovers from all over the world. Highly, highly recommended!

The staff was the only good part of this stay but the owner was not helpful at all

We were victims of an armed robbery at this hotel and lost a lot of our cash and suitcase was stolen. The robbers broke into our tent with a blade. We wasted half the trip dealing with the police, and the hotel provided no security along with no cameras. on top of that... it was our most expensive stay and the facilities did not align with the pricing

The staff were super friendly and helpful, always making sure we were comfortable. The food was tasty . The place itself is beautiful – calm, clean, and surrounded by nature. The rooms were spacious and really cozy. We also went on a safari through them, and it was an amazing experience! Highly recommending the place

Clean and smart accommodation, great service

Extrem aufmerksames personal und service! Das essen ist wirklich wahnsinn, ein eigenes Erlebnis! Man wird wirklich besonders behandelt! Der ranger manusha ist besonders hervorzuheben, er war von anfang bis ende an unserer seite. Die safari war traumhaft, von organisation bis manusha wie er alles toll erklärte. Wirklich ein ausergewöhnliches erlebnis. Der private pool mit villa lässt keine wünsche offen. Mitten in der natur ist das ein wirkliches spektakel, wer sich was besonderes gönnen will ist hier genau richtig.

The lodge was really beautiful in a tranquil setting. One of the rangers was excellent and engaging (the man who had done a thesis on wildlife) - pointing lots of wildlife out and being really patient with my daughter showing him frogs.

When we arrived they did not think my reservation was confirmed. I showed them the confirmed booking on booking.com however they had booked another family in for the second night so we could only stay for one night. They did not offer to help arrange alternative accommodation at all leaving me with a very stressful time trying to book somewhere very last minute at high season. They did not transfer our bags as they said they would. They did not compensate us for this frankly diabolical experience - the night we stayed was at full rate (they did provide rice for lunch for free after I suggested they did so). Incredibly disappointed and angry with our experience here as this was meant to be our special stay on holiday and the dishonoured reservation and then poor handling of the awful situation was appalling. Finally, the attitude of on of their employees was poor, when he asked at dinner where we had booked he said "oh my god, that's really bad" - talk about making a bad situation worse. My kids where then really worried about the next hotel. I had very few options to arrange accommodation for 4 people in high season and the hotel did NOTHING TO HELP FIND ALTERNATIVES. I was fuming with this. Finally, I told booking.com about this when it happened and I am yet to have this resolved 3 weeks later.

Fantastic stay. Truly a great experience and a must of you visit Wilpattu National park. The staff goes above and beyond to make your as enjoyable as they can. They are the true heroes of the resort.
