Carriage House Motor Inn

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Slightly inconvenient to walk across the street for reception and perks, but staff was always friendly and helpful. Somewhat disappointed that the outdoor pool wasn't open.

This motel was connected to Rodeway, across the street. They had a pool to use, Carriage did not. Also, our mini-fridge was so cold it froze our food…

The property outside was terrible. The office was closed and you needed to go across the street to another motel to check in. The swimming pool was covered, a air conditioner lay beside it, No locking doors on the building’s entrances. The exterior needs major paint and restoration. A buddy and I were the only occupants. I joked to my wife over the phone that if I didn’t report in the next morning, she should have the police look for our bodies in the pool. At the reception desk, I asked if we could switch motels to theirs, no was the answer. It was a Bates motel type. Never go there…

Nice, quiet little motel a few miles away from the adk loj. Would recommend and plan to be back in the future!

As soon as we drove up to the property, it looked like it was abandoned. no cars and no people. Outdoor pool covered up. Office building looked shuttered with note to sign-in across the street at the Rodeway inn. They must own it now. Thank God the room was clean when we arrived, and everything worked although some of the chairs were torn. We gave up on room service for cleaning. We picked up clean towels every time we went across to the Rodeway for the very minimal free breakfast. Most of the chairs in that room were very badly stained. We managed since we were adults and were out most of the time. I would stay away as a family with children. Outdoor pool closed. indoor pool across at Rodeway very tiny and uninviting. No playground Anyway, it looked like they gave up on this inn. It did look a little better across at the Rodeway Inn. Personally, I will not come back to either one. Pay a little more for closer to Mirror Lake or go a little out to Wilmington. Two places we checked out were the Mountain Brook Lodge and the The Hungry Trout (Had lunch) They both looked nice and family friendly

So...I don't mind older motels as long as they're clean. The room was clean except for the carpeting....let's just say you wanted to keep your shoes on. Gap between bottom of door and floor was a bit disconcerting and patio door latch was not working properly. The property showed an outdoor pool and indoor pool. The outdoor pool was closed and rundown looking. The indoor pool was across the street at the Rodeway Inn (which apparently owns the Carriage House now). The whole property (both Rodeway and Carriage House) are badly in need of upgrading and cleaning outside. Our sheets, bathroom, and furnishings were clean which is the only reason we didn't turn around and leave. Looks way better on the website than what it actually is. Front desk clerk (you check in at the Rodeway across the street) was very friendly and helpful. Would not stay at either in the future...even with the lower price. Just felt like we were in a sketchy motel.

Our stay at Carriage House was excellent. It's a motel so you should set your expectations accordingly. It was well kept and charmingly outdated, the service employees were on point at every step, and everything was as described. This is not a fancy hotel so complaints about it being different than that are misguided.

This motel is almost abandoned. You have to yse the facilities of the Rodeway Inn on the other side of the street. The room was not unclean, but old and smelly. The AC was not functioning properly and I had initially all not hot water. I called front desk and 2 very nice man came to repair something.

The young man who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful in getting us in the room a little earlier than 3. Checkout was easy also. The room was not dirty, but the building was. There was a strong odor in our room so we paid for two nights but left after one. It is a shame that we lost money on the booking.
