The Tsitsikamma Pyramid

Very unique experience in a beautiful part of SA

When we booked this lodge, we expected a secluded romantic retreat. We got nothing like that. The lodge is not really so secluded, it's 3 min walk from other stays in that complex but what was the worst is that it was very loud — there was a wedding celebration and music was banging all night long and we couldn't fall asleep until 3am. Half of the facilities were not working (and according to the previews reviews, they just never work): the bath outside was out of order; the water in the bathtub inside was of the hideous brown colour so it's better not to look at it when you're in. On top of that, their management promised us to return us 20% of the price because of the inconveniences with the loud music and they never did! It's obvious that they don't really care about the comfort of their guests but only about promoting photoshopped pictures of this place on Instagram. Which actually don't even correspond to reality. The pyramide looks old inside and dated.

The location is perfect, the sky full of stars.

We came with a lot of expectations and were a little disappointed. The water in the room was brown. I couldn't take a shower. The hot tub outside the room was dirty. The breakfast was very basic. The staff was very nice and tried to help. They even offered me another room to take a shower, but we wanted to use the tub in the room and the outdoor shower.

stunning location, Beautiful place! excellent service. We had a delay in our check in but it was compensated with a nice lunch and diner plus a late check out without even asking for it. The manager and staff are truly amazing people. We only stayed one night, I wish I could have stayed longer

A super unique stay, the pyramid was lovely. The his&hers baths were great and we loved how cosy it was at night. We were greeted by a family of monkeys outside in the morning too which was great!

Despite it being a great stay, we felt the pyramid was overpriced for what it was compared to other places we have stayed that were at the same level of quality/wow factor

The Pyramid is solid build and it's truly a unique experience.

The Pyramid was really expensive for South African standards. Relative to that, I would expect the service to be on a higher level e.g. quality of dinner, the staff not forgetting things regularly etc. The Pyramid was somewhat solid build, yet Not at the same level than e..g tended lodges at quality safari camps (which you can get at a similar price tag). In short it's fine to go there but the value for money is not sufficient.
