"A very serene environment"

10.0

It is a beautiful traditional wood guesthouse, close to the town centre, in a charming traditional neighbourhood. The staff are wonderful, and we learned a lot about Kyoto and its culture during our stay.

Nothing!

"Very Good"

"Experience we will remember forever"

10.0

This was a highlight of our trip. A traditional experience including a traditional Japanese breakfast too. It was kept warm with the heating and we slept well! Embracing the experience was something we will always remember. The staff were all so welcoming, accommodating and kind, and we got a gift at the end of our stay to remember it by. The room was very spacious and the view out to the little garden was stunning.

Some mentioned it was a little dated, I can see where they’re coming from but this did not bother us, it is part of the traditional feel and was still very clean regardless. It was one of the more expensive nights of our trip.

My husband and I had a fantastic, and very authentic stay at Gion Yoshi Ima. The staff was incredibly helpful, polite, kind, and knowledgeable about the Ryokan and Kyoto. They were very accommodating and the food was excellent. We had a traditional Japanese dinner, breakfast, and partook in the tea ceremony as well. I also indulged in the cedar onsen tub in our bathroom which was lovely. The rooms also come with traditional robes for you to wear and the staff sets up your beds on the tatami mats at night and takes them away in the morning which was very nice. Highly recommend this Ryokan for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Japanese culture!

We visited in early March which was a bit cool at the Ryokan so our shower room and bathroom were quite cold. I would recommend visiting when its a bit warmer for a more comfortable stay.
