"Nice quiet location, fine caravan, let down by poor communication"

5.0

Caravan was fine, location was nice next to the water & a 10 minute walk into the village.

Not a great start as upon arrival, phoned owners to no answer, 6 of us outside with bags some of which containing food. Luckily managed to get in from playing about with the code. Owners phoned an hour and a half later, didn’t seem as if they were expecting us to arrive and stay in the caravan even after we had requested a 4- 5pm check-in when the booking was made. Did not seem too bothered about our wait and was more concerned if we had sent a copy of our IDs or not. On website it advised towels are supplied but you have to bring your own which we hadn’t prepared for, I asked on the phone about whether towels would be provided, and was advised I would receive a call back which didn’t happen. Cleanliness of the beds was questionable.

"Great location, site staff very friendly and helpful but caravan could do with a bit of tlc on the outside"

7.0

The location of the caravan is great, close to the lake with plenty for the children to do in the water

Upon arrival first impressions weren’t great, the caravan needs a good clean on the outside and the table and chairs were old and very rusty.. when we arrived the owners didn’t answer the phone for an hour and a half and so couldn’t access the caravan at check in time which wasn’t great when we had planned the journey around this and had bought frozen food etc.. did eventually answer 90 minutes late with no apology

It was clean, lacked in facilities, outside needs more attention. When calling for the pin they asked for more money as we had a child with us, price was already high compared to the others, also they want a copy of your passport and a utility bill which I find uncomfortable given such sensitive information. Location great, park is lovely much to do

Me and my family liked the location and the landscape around it. If you like to walk a lot, it's a great place - several interesting paths exist. You can walk to the nearest town, Millom, it has its quiet atmosphere, we recommend checking out the museum at the train station. There is also Tesco so you can shop there. If you have a car, there is much to see. The caravan was well-equipped with all equipment (except the washing machine - but just around the corner you have a mini outdoor laundry) and remember to take your towels. We parked our car there easily. What's very good is that you can take your pet - it costs an extra 5 quid per night. There is also an aqua park nearby. As for the things that could be improved, towel hooks in the bathroom would be a nice addition, we couldn't find a dustpan either (there were brooms and a mop, which was ok)

A pitch or playground would be useful - teenagers play football on the street because they have nowhere to play.

"The caravan was comfortable, but a little cramped."

5.0

The caravan was actually comfortable. The heating was very efficient and once it got going the caravan was pretty warm. Despite being a little cramped, the dining room was quite comfortable. There were 3 rooms which made quite a lot of space for people to sleep, but the living space was too cramped to reasonably accommodate more than 3. Lovely surroundings around us, with access to the beach and a lake (unfortunately overflooded) and many opportunities for hikes nearby.

There was no WiFi at all, but the advert in the booking site (booking.com) suggested there was. There were several call-out tags, one of which was WiFi. In facilities, Wifi was listed with a tick in the first column. It was only under Internet that they said it was Wifi was available in public places and charges were applicable. This did not make it clear there was NO internet inside the actual property. Gas oven with an open flame, which was concerning and possibly dangerous. The property description did not clarify it was a mobile house, and so relatively restricted in terms of space. There was a shower, but no bath, yet there was a tag called 'Bath'. The name of the property is totally misleading. There is no Kingdom Holiday Park anywhere. The description said "the holiday park is equipped with 3 separate bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area and microwave, and a living room with a flat-screen TV" which is non-sensical. This applies to a single mobile home in the park. The local town was rather small and did not have many services, which made it difficult to find food on the first evening since the pub did not serve any food. We had to order take-away from Millom, but there were few options and not that great.
