Uokagi Ryokan

Family run Ryokan in a quiet neighborhood. Owners even drove me to the train station the next morning.

Building was worn around the edges and light stains on window blinds. Linens were clean.

My room was clean and simple, and the owners were kind to me and helpful about explaining how to use the shared bathroom. The property is a little far from the city, but it's an easy walk from the nearest bus stop and I really liked the local area.

The unisex toilets are in the same room as the urinals, and you can't get to a toilet without walking past the urinals, which means every time you open the toilet door there's a chance you're going to see another guest fully visible at the urinals right in front of you. As a woman travelling on my own, this made me a bit uncomfortable, especially when I had to go in the middle of the night. I was relieved that I didn't see any other guests while I was there!

Very comfortable room with multiple Futons, big bathtub and quiet area.

I cannot complain. The only thing could be when you are a light sleeper, because the walls are thin.

It was such a GREAT place to stay, a perfect getaway from the busy center of Nagoya, the accomodation is traditional but authentic. The owners are absolutely adorable, and made the stay so pleasant!

A bit far from the city center so prepare for public transport

Traditional ryokan, run by an elderly couple. They know limited English but enough to communicate and were very accommodating. Room was spacious and futon was comfortable.

It’s not very close to the centre, transport links are good (definitely can’t walk from Nagoya station like I tried in the rain) and not a lot to do in the area.
