The Staging Post

Well situated property in the centre of Longreach. We had initially booked a Queen room, which was tiny with dark and dingy furnishings. We upgraded (at our cost) to a family room, which was much larger and more comfortable, but quite expensive. Bathroom was great and the separate bedroom was well set up.

Very little natural light - just two windows which opened onto a public area. Worsened by extensive use of dark wood for walls. Cooking facilities were OK but not great, with a really impractical bathroom sink set up for the kitchen area.

The location in the town so close to IGA and multiple restaurants was great. Despite this it was very quiet. The room was comfortable and spacious. We had a microwave, cutlery and dishes with detergent and tea towels. The availability of a washing machine and dryer in a laundry room was very handy ( cost of $7 to use both for a load) with change available at reception. The staff were friendly and helpful. They happily collected us from the train station on arrival and then took us to the airport at the conclusion of our stay.

Trying to be authentic to olden times was great but some things were just not very practical. A enamel bowl to wash dishes in was good but you needed to carry it to a tap to fill it and then carry it back to the bathroom to empty it. The canvas curtains were a nice touch but during the day they made the room dark.

Charming accommodation situated in the heart of a beautiful little town! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Make sure to book your river cruise & show directly with property!

This accommodation is just across the street from the booking office in the center of the outback town. We had the family room which has three single beds, one queen,,a kitchenette, and private bathroom. The air conditioning was a learning curve but Leon helped us with that. The accommodation takes you back in time and we enjoyed it. If you need anything they are such nice people they will help you. This is not a formal accommodation but you are here for the relaxed way of like, enjoy it.
