Yanagawa is off the tourist circuit, and especially hot and sullen on a Sunday afternoon. The property was all the more pleasantly surprising. Lovely spacious ryokan room looking out on a beautifully groomed garden. The onsen was fine. The family staff was particularly friendly, with excellent English. It gave us a welcome resting time.

We liked the property. Yanagawa seems overrated. The hotel can't do anything about it.

Etablissement de bon aspect général. Parties communes et chambre propres, claires, calmes. Grande chambre. Grand bain. Très bon petit-déjeuner (servi un peu tard, 7h30 au mieux). Vue sur un très agréable jardin depuis la chambre. Champs d’oiseaux diffusés à bas bruit dans l’établissement. Le soir de mon séjour, très très bon rapport qualité prix.

The property was easy to find and there was a free carpark across the road. The room was certainly in the Japanese style and the view of the garden quite lovely.

While truly appreciating the classic Japanese design, I wouldn’t say the room is comfortable. The beds are futons (which I was aware of) but there was no comfortable seating area to relax. There were a couple of wooden chairs to look over the garden. Understandably, they don’t want you dragging your luggage across the tatami flooring but the wooden floor area close to the door was small. It was sufficient for one night and good to experience.
