Kura Kura Resort Gili Meno

The rooms were clean and pleasant. The pool and outdoor area was relaxing. The food was well presented and good. The sports bar and front restaurant were great.

The bed was very hard. Sometimes around the pool area all you could smell was sewerage. On our first night when paying for dinner one of the wait staff took our money only to return and say we were short $50,000 IDR, second day at the bar same wait staff (same person) came back and said we short $100,000 (only to discover we were short $100,000 when counting what we had left from what we started with) then at dinner that same night I counted $35000 out to another staff member for payment of dinner at 32,500 only to have the other wait staff (from the two previous times) come back with 20,000 asking for 50,000 to exchange for 20,000 I became assertive and said he owed us 25,000, oh sorry I mixed it up he said. People watch your money at Kura Kura as there is at least one wait staff member on the take, spoke to a few other visitors at the accomodation and one couple said the same happened to them. We are only down $15 AU dollars and have given more than that away generously but like most people do not like being ripped off blatantly.

The room was spacious and well set out. A working fridge and air-conditioning kettle and plenty of fresh drinkable water. Separate bathroom which was big and clean. bed was comfortable The pool was a refreshing treat especially with the shade clothe to keep it cooler. The staff were very helpful (not intrusive), friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was a delight; fruit eggs toast and coffee. The 'dining room' has a great view of Gili Air and Lombok and watching the ferries come and go was enlightening and at time incredibly entertaining and resourceful (A Timor Horse arrived on a small ferry!!!) We saw lenticular clouds over Lombok. It was an incredible experience. I've only ever seen photos of those clouds over Mt Fuji. We mostly ate dinner at the resort. The food was good quality, fresh and tasty. There is a small book swap and lounge furniture near the pool. It is a simple clean comfortable and friendly resort. It has all you need and all we wanted at a good price. You can walk from the ferry to the resort. A great place to lounge about but also a top spot from which to explore the island and all it has to offer. We did a snorkeling tour and was very glad of it. We learnt a lot and knew where we wanted to spend more time snorkeling. Once away from the shore the water was clear, warm and beautiful. Turtles and fish 5 star. A walk around the island takes 1.5 hours - depending on your stop rate. Took us 4 days to do the island Haha. There are a couple of Turtle refuges that care of turtles from egg to 4 - 6 months old when they are released back to the ocean. You can take a pony pulled carriage or ride a bike. We walked. There are some fancy resorts on the northern side of the island and we found one cafe that was going above and beyond in being responsible in the food offered and how it was served. Cotton serviettes a great change, no plastic straws etc...

Pictures were not representative of the actuality. Looks pristine but it's somewhat dated Vs those pics. A deep clean would be beneficial. Kitchen looked poor, but it seems that's normal. Beaches on this side of the island have a lot of plastic, with little or no attempt to clear.

Location to the ferry can’t be beaten. We had heavy bags so this was a priority for us. The staff were great, couldn’t of looked after us any better

It’s a little old and could do with some maintenance and upgrades.

Really lovely and welcoming staff, the BEST aircon system I’ve ever experienced, provided a huge bottle of water to rinse off after salty sea water showers, good food options for lunch if you’re out by the pool, 3 min walk from the port, and lovely resident friendly cats :)

Big, spacious rooms with nice design. Swimming pool covered with the fabric which is great as it keeps the water nice and cool. Amazing staff and tasty breakfast.

The resort doesn’t have access to the beach with sun beds. The beach is pretty narrow in front of the restaurant, and it’s full of boats as it’s just next to the pier. It’s not a big deal cause you can walk a bit and hang out in one of the restaurants on the beach. Just don’t expect quiet beach resort. Pier is pretty busy and loud

Only cold water in the shower and this was salty water the salt factor not fault of hotel but according to hotel signage due to no fresh water on the island except that which is barged in. Not much privacy, rooms open directly onto path around pool. Restaurant average and most of good restaurants were a good walk away.
