Hlalanathi Drakensberg Resort

The property is well looked after maintenance 👌🏽👌🏽 and it's location is perfect (actually I am speechless)

The name Hlalanathi doesn't have good reputation in the accommodation industry ( 90% in KZN are brothel houses). Add some activities within the sites like horse riding trails , quad bikes etc .. You must have more chalets without Carpets in the bedrooms. The place need a proper marketing strategy I feel like is not well advertised actually it's deserves more stars 🌟

Hot water was not coming out and the beds were not comfortable.

The rooms were not clean and it's the reason we changed rooms two times trying to get into the clean one. The first one was not the one we booked, it was two single beds instead of double, when we booked we ticked the smoke but when we there the whole place is none smoke. If everything was according to what we wanted we were going to enjoy the place definitely.

Als Selbstversorger schätzten wir die sehr gut ausgestattete Küche und den Gefrierschrank. Die Zimmer waren sauber, geräumig und sehr gut ausgestattet, viel Ablagefläche und Platz in den Schränken. Das Bad mit Badewanne und Dusche hatte ein Eck-Waschbecken mit wenig Ablagefläche. Unser 2-Zimmer-Chalet in der sehr gepflegten Anlage war am Grundstücksrand gelegen mit Blick auf den Tugela-River und einen Teil des Amphitheaters. Es war ruhig, da Nebensaison, wir nutzten weder den Pool noch weiteres Freizeitangebot (Golf o.ä.). Das sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Küchen-Personal des Restaurants kam meinem Wunsch für einen Geburtstagskuchen für den folgenden Morgen nach.

Im Bad mit dem Eckwaschbecken wäre mehr Ablagefläche wünschenswert.

It are spacious houses and the employees are really friendly. The lady at the spa was also really professional. The views were nice and we got a free upgrade to a bigger house.

It needs an update. The cleaning lady is doing her best but with the old structure of the building, the carpet, the openings in the tiles, the old furniture, etc it still does not feel clean and there were a lot of ants.

This is a fairly large property, with both tent camping space and cabins. Many families with small children were spending extended time there, from what we could infer. There is a pool, a play area, a restaurant, and a golf course nearby. Some cabins and tent spaces have a gorgeous view of the valley below. The grounds are nice, with a couple of seating areas, walking areas, and beautiful scenery all around the property. The cabins themselves are a bit dated, but comfortable and well-appointed (our microwave oven did not work). We selected this property because of the proximity to the Thendele Camp, where we started one of our hikes. The location is excellent for the Gorge Trail, but we really enjoyed the views as well.

The staff were not very friendly. After making the booking, I asked for some advice on hiking, and they recommended we speak to the staff at the reception. Upon arrival, we asked the reception staff for advice, and they declined to provide us with information (maybe we were speaking with somebody not very well informed about options). Luckily, we found a friendly person (not a staff member) who was very helpful and provided us with the information we needed. The service at the restaurant was quite slow. All the plugs were South African only. We were lucky to find a European plug converter for the TV, which we repurposed for charging our devices. Most of the lodging establishments we have stayed at will offer some European plugs in addition to the SA ones.
