Syke Farm Campsite - Yurt's and Shepherds Hut

The property has everything you will need for a comfortable glamping stay. A gas hob, kettle, cutlery, cups, plates, bowls, sharp knives, cool box, sink, tea towels, running water etc. firewood and lighter for internal fire (needed to light even though it’s summer.. gets very cold at night) the staff were happy to give more wood when we ran out. Beds were very comfortable and roomy. Complementary 50 pence pieces to use the toilets if we didn’t want to use our compost one. Scenery and location just beautiful and tranquil. A 10 minute walk along the brook to get to the lake.

Just a preference for me, I wasn’t keen on the compost toilet, particularly because it’s shared with the guests from the second yurt. It can produce a distinct odour which is off putting. We have a 2 year old and when the fire was lit indoors it was very hot touch. We had to create a barrier around it the best we could and it did make it a little stressful to keep her away from it. Not a fault of the property but something we didn’t consider.

Our recent stay at this remarkable campsite left us in awe of nature's splendor and the cozy charm of the hut we called home for a few days. The hut itself was a delightful haven. The clear window positioned right in the middle of the hut was a brilliant feature, allowing us to gaze at the stars from the comfort of our bed. Each night, we were treated to a mesmerizing display of the night sky, making it a truly unforgettable experience. The combination of the serene environment, the proximity to the cascades, and the thoughtful design of the hut made our stay exceptional. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply looking for a tranquil escape, this campsite offers an unparalleled experience that we highly recommend. We left feeling rejuvenated and already dreaming of our next visit!

While our stay was overwhelmingly positive, there was one aspect that slightly detracted from the tranquility. The buzzing of paragliders in the morning and evening disrupted the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. It was a bit challenging to fully relax and enjoy the natural sounds of the birds and the river with the persistent noise overhead. Despite this minor inconvenience, the combination of the serene environment, the proximity to the cascades, and the thoughtful design of the hut made our stay exceptional. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply looking for a tranquil escape, this campsite offers an unparalleled experience that we highly recommend. Shared toilet

Location, beds, kitchen area, general feel of the yurt and decking area all wonderful. The solar charging was so useful.

Don’t mind the compost toilet but it would be great if there was a bit more ventilation! Would be lovely for there to be an outdoor shower in the yurt area and the facilities are a long way away and it would just add a really special touch.
