"Charming in spite of its age."

The location was excellent in the most center of this charming hamlet. Paris worthy patisserie just below the ryokan. Breakfast and dinner were generous and tasty. Too much for us women. The private onsen was put to use morning and night. Staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating.

The property is older and in need of a refresh in certain areas.

"The staff go the extra mile!"

Amazingly friendly and attentive staff. Our Japanese is very poor but they made every effort to accommodate us and make us feel welcome!

Nothing, it was the best ryoken we have visited in our 6 weeks of Japan!

"Despite the disappointing service at breakfast, we enjoyed the dinner service and food tremendously."

The location is good. Right in the middle of Kurokawa Onsen villlage.

The breakfast on our 2nd day was somewhat disappointing. We chose to hv breakfast at 8.30am but our breakfast was prepared way in advance and was left on the table. When we arrived at the appointed time, the food was cold.

I like the Onsen experience, the food was good and the staff were very good.

The room and hotel generally looked tired and in need of refurbishment. Probably trading on past glories. The area nowadays is very busy/ commercialised .

"Wonderful onsen village and ryokan"

Good local feel. Great village, nice room with own private bath. Overall friendly family, we were picked up and delivered back to bus station, all our questions were answered.

Too many signs saying don’t do this or that, understand you have tourists that don’t behave but it does not come across nice. Maybe just add one information sheet in the folder for this. Facilities come across but dated - Price quality off track when lookin at state of facilities and quality of the dinner.
