Comfortable 1 bedroom apartment in Helsinki

Huoneisto ei vastannut odotuksiani. Suihkun viemärikaivo veti huonosti. Emme halunneet jäädä yöksi vaan lähdimme pois.

Good beds. One large enough for a small family. Elevator in the building. The host was friendly. Green area. No traffic noise. Two spacious rooms. (Kitchen and bathroom cramped.)

If you like genuine East Germany-style 1970's Plattenbau buildings, then you’ll feel right at home here, albeit with just four floors. Thin walls — you can follow the neighbors' table conversations. Unwashed windows and an untidy cupboard under the kitchen sink. Virtually no interior renovations done in 50 years or so. The lock on the bathroom door broken and no longer possible to lock. The plumbing trap under the bathroom sink is leaking which will soon make the cupboard under the sink to rot and decay. Bedsheets clean — but sort of worn out. When we arrived, the provided utensils were: 2 forks, 1 knife and 2 teaspoons. Once we pointed this out, one tablespoon (together with one sallad fork) was provided by the host; so be prepared to bring your own utensils.

A bit dirty, but expecting a squeaky clean apt for this money would be absurd
