Maadathil Cottages & Beach Resort

Beautiful location, out of the tacky centre of Varkala cliff, but a lovely 30 minute walk down the palm fringed, sandy ocean beach (or 10 min tuk-tuk ride) this place felt like an oasis. Very relaxing and well set up, with friendly and helpful staff on hand all the time. It's a lovely little romantic place. btw, Yoga class locally was very good too.

OK, so small criticisms, but to score full points I'd say toilet flush wasn't the best. Nobody wants to see that on a romantic getaway. It works, but you got to flush a number of times. Secondly, the food was mostly lovely, but some things were just 'ok', certainly not 'wow'. I think they should focus on a smaller menu, they offer too much and it must affect the quality. Thirdly and not their fault, but the cliff top area is quite unpleasant...all trinkets and trash. Best avoided unless you want elephant print trousers, or some other tacky stuff.

It was a fantastic stay in Varkala. The place was quiet, comfortable, with short walk to the beach and many cozy places to hang out outside (hammocks, lounge chairs, etc). I'd definitely come back.

The view is great and the staff are very friendly. They made us feel so relaxed and peaceful throughout the stay. Will recommend this place.

The location is amazing. We can see the sunset from the balcony. The staffs are very kind and polite. Breakfast,lunch and dinner were delicious. Overall highly recommended property. Definitely we will come back again.

it is a great beautiful place and highly recommended. definitely a fantastic place to relax. the people are very friendly and helpful. the cottage are close to the sea and in a beautiful garden. there is plenty of room to relax or sunbathe or read in the garden. the restaurant is very good. in short, highly recommended

It's very clean and just infront of beach..staff are very cooperative and prompt in their service. Overall very comfortable and peaceful stay.

Excellent location, the view was pristine, easily accessible beach (Note that I’m specifically talking about their beach resort, not the cottages), Aslam and Karthik were very helpful and friendly. Good food is available at their restaurant too. Not much complaint really, we had a top notch stay!

Only small issue is that their breakfast at the beach resort had very limited options and generally the same menu everyday. But they are working on it, having recently started serving one special dish everyday, they would seen to be soon expanding their menu as per Karthik

Everything about our stay was perfect! If you are looking for a tranquil and serene place to stay in Varkala, please stay here! The locations is ideal, as it is just a short walk along the beautiful beaches to reach the bustle of the Cliff area if one so wishes, or you can stick around to enjoy the quiet. The staff at Maathadil are the the warmest and most friendly people. All of the staff looked after us so well and were there to help us out when we had an unforeseen circumstance. The restaurant at the cottages is also well equipped - breakfast and dinner menus are varied and affordable, and the service is great. The cottages are spacious and well equipped with AC, fan, fridge, wardrobe - and with large comfy beds. The front porch is the perfect place to relax and cool down in the shade. We would definitely recommend Maadathil if you are in Varkala. We hope to be back soon!

We absolutely loved our stay here. We’d booked 2 nights but as soon as we got here we asked for another ! We had a lovely warm welcome from Karthik the manager , and throughout our stay all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our little bungalow was lovely, traditional in style and very comfy bed. The location is perfect, so quiet and peaceful but only a ten minute walk up the beach (which is beautiful) to the shops and restaurants of North Cliff. We ate at the restaurant belonging to the resort every night as the food was excellent, the staff lovely and it was so peaceful listening to the ocean and looking out onto the lovely gardens . Breakfast included was great, lovely fresh fruit and choice of many things such as omelettes and pancakes etc. We thought it much nicer than all the other noisy touristy restaurants . We swam a few times just up the beach a little and it was great. Can’t recommend our stay here enough and we’re working out when we can come back! Don’t hesitate just book!
