Wilderness Motel Accommodation

Simple but nice.

No fridge in room (but one available in shared kitchen).

There is a kitchen at the end of the main hallway that is open until 10 p.m. very well stocked with appliances & a fridge to put your cold items in. Staff were very helpful to point out where everything was & provide local information. They also provide the hours for the local store & the Hard Antler restaurant- which had great food for purchase- in an antler type decor!!

The bed was easily moved as it was on rollers. The wifi didn't seem to work that great. Unfortunately the information from the hotel was not grammatically correct so we didn't quite understand why the kitchen was noted as closing at 10 p.m. to not disturb other guest. It needs to be clearer that there is a fully stocked kitchen, toaster, grill, air fryer, kettle etc available for guests to cook for themselves if they wish.

It was convenient for passing through Haast. The communal kitchen was great and had everything needed. There was also a cafe etc and hotel within a minutes walk.

As the motel rooms are all off a corridor there was constant noise of doors shutting. However you got used to that. I would suggest better signage showing the direction of reception as we had numerous people try to access our room for reception. That meant we needed to keep the range slider closed to prevent entry by strangers.
