Palazzo Virgintino - Sassi Rooms

Very nice apartment within the old city that was very well maintained and updated. Balcony off the bedroom with views of the old town (Sassi) and another off the front overlooking a piazza and church. Both beautiful and fun to have wine and coffee on in the AM and PM. Great location. And the hosts were very communicative and helpful!

We loved our stay at the Palazzo Vergintino Sassi Rooms. Spacious, beautifully decorated, and very accommodating and functional. Centrally located and around several wonderful restaurants. The hosts were so helpful in arranging taxi service from the public parking a few miles away and were quick to reply to any questions we had. We thoroughly enjoyed the views from both balconies of our apartment, one looking out over the Piazza and the other balcony overlooking the magical old city of Matera! The wonderful cafe next door is so convenient for morning coffee, croissants, and traditional ham and cheese bites. A perfect stay and highly recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a wonderful stay at Palazzo Virgintino – Sassi Rooms during our visit to Matera for the incredible Matera Cielo Stellato light show. The location could not be better – just steps from Palombaro Lungo and within a short walk to Matera Cathedral and all the main sights in the Sassi. Our room was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented and very comfortable. The pictures don’t do it justice! We really appreciated the thoughtful touches – the minibar, fridge, good coffee and quality toiletries. The bed was excellent, the air conditioning kept us cool, and the shower was fantastic after a long day exploring. The host was warm and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The whole property feels authentic yet modern, so close to everything that made our evenings special. Palazzo Virgintino is a gem in the heart of Matera – a peaceful retreat that still keeps you close to the buzz of the old town. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Matera and will definitely return on our next trip.
