Esseneto Rooms

The rooms are very clean and just five minutes from the railway station. There is a sea view. Looks newly furnished. Staff helpful and friendly.

There was not enough space for two persons in the room we got. The room felt stacked with furniture, there were hardly 20cm left between the bed, wardrobe and the balcony door. Although sea view was promised, the balcony only had a side sea view. Moreover, there was no furniture on the balcony at all. The breakfast was very scarce - croissants and coffee.

The room was in a recently renewed building, so everything was very new. The building is near the city centre and close to Valle Dei Templi, although the street itself is not very beautiful. The instructions for the self-check-in were clear, and we had a smooth experience. The room and private bathroom were comfortable and quiet, with a sea view. Breakfast was on the first floor of the building, simple but delicious (cornetti, caffè/cappuccino, juices). Overall, we were very satisfied.

The shower soap was not enough, I recommend asking in advance for more.

The listing states that there is a reception and that it is open during specific hours; This is not the case. The property emails while one is in transit and gives a code. If one is not connected to the internet, one is left to wait at the door for a non existent reception. After considerable waiting outside, was forced to book a room elsewhere. When messaging this place, the answer was “we are not a hotel”. A few days later, a couple was seen frantically trying to gain entry, but to no avail…. The description of this place is deceptive and can be dangerous should arrival be at night without internet. The property was without sympathy.

It was in a convenient area for what we were there for- to stay the night and then visit the temples in the morning. While the stairs to the main road were many, they were still convenient. Of note is the view from the small parking area adjacent to the building. It was absolutely stunning and we spent a considerable amount of time simply looking out over the valley.

Though we gave our ETA at host’s request, he was not at the property when one of the party descending the 100 steps, arrived, nor had we a contact number - goggling of property produced phone no. On eventually making contact, he was told to go to apt on first floor. The remainder of the party arrived having pulled cases by road (pedestrian guests should be advised to take taxi from station) followed soon after by the host who came to the apt, SHOUTING at us in Italian, then used goggle translate to tell us in English, still shouting, that we had the rooms but not use of kitchen or living room. (No ref to apartments on B.com ) The lock of the apt was jammed so we could not close apt door. Later we noticed crockery, glasses and cutlery had been removed from apt. Breakfast very, very poor, OJ, croissants and coffee When I attempted to take a second croissant, our host informed it was one per person!!!!

There are no elevators so you need to go up two floors with suitcase.

Location is good. Close to the train station and bus terminal. View on the balcony is nice as we can see the temple of valley and sea. Room is spacious.

The breakfast is very basic and has a strict time frame from 8:30 to 9:30 which resulted in all guests come to the breakfast room at the same time. And had to wait a while for the owner to make coffee. Staff speaks some English but not very good so a bit difficult to communicate. No room cleaning (we stayed two nights)
