The apartment was in a very central location and was well equipped with everything you could need. Jan was a most attentive and accommodating host, who kept in regular contact with us and gave us really helpful tips. I would love to go back to this apartment.

Central location (albeit because of that, we found it a little noisey). The terrace (we consider private outdoor space a 'must' in Lucca and which led us to book here when our usual apartment wasn't available). The dressing table area has lots of space and good lighting. Easy to use washing machine. Very short walk to the local 'supermarket' is especially useful when carrying bottles of water etc.

The different floor levels within the apartment, which we (as two relatively fit but short-sighted nearly 60 year olds) found difficult to negotiate during the inevitable night-time trip to the bathroom: there are two unequal steps down just outside the bedroom door, then steps up again to reach the loo inside the bathroom. We were so convinced we were going to end up with a sprained ankle (or worse) that we left a night-light on! There are no functioning curtains in the bedroom, which has several small high windows. The noise from the roof nesting herring gulls (who knew gulls didn't sleep at all during the night? And lived so far away from the sea?!?). Only one pillow each.

Not a problem for us but an infirm or elderly person could struggle to get up the stairs.

Enjoyed the location, apartment was perfect, lovely size, very well equipped, you could move in and live there as everything is provided. The terrace is a real bonus, we spent hours enjoying our evenings with local wine and food. If you wanted to cook, it has everything you would need. Jan met us with the keys and he showed us where everything was. Already planning on returning next year. Bicycles are available for nominal charge.

It was very spacious with all you need for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect for exploring Lucca. Heating great in cold weather.

The location was perfect - walking distance from the station, close to the walls, a short walk to the main square (everything in Lucca is within walking distance). The apartment was spacious, attractive and well equipped - we made use of the washing machine - and we loved the roof terrace. The nearest supermarket was really close by, and the local Bar Teani next to it had good coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Our host Jan was really friendly and helpful and was able to answer any questions we had; we enjoyed his restaurant recommendation. Our week here went by really quickly and we really liked it.

The 3 flights of stairs up to the apartment! - though we felt we were getting fitter by the end of the week.

Inside the walls in a good location

It was not advertised that it was on the third floor US/2nd floor, Europe. Loud parrots woke us up at daylight every day. Aside from the many stairs to reach the apartment, there were also stairs throughout the apartment, including a very steep stair just outside the bedroom door. My husband fell several times. The host advertised bikes as being free, but then charged for them when we checked in. When we tried to heat the oven to cook, the breakers tripped. We had to unplug everything in the apartment in order to use the oven.

This is one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. Super friendly and helpful host met us at the door, took us by car to a free parking area 10 minutes walk away, and was full of good advice on places to shop and eat. The flat was spacious and quiet, with high ceilings, and in excellent condition. Ittt comprised a well-furnished living room and separate bedroom, large walk-in wardrobe, comfortable bed, and kitchen with all mod cons, right in the centre of town. And a covered terrace was a great spot to sit outside.
