Redgate Homestead

We loved this farm homestead. Surrounds are beautiful, the home is very comfortable and homely. Kids had an absolute ball in the play areas and the home. Great place to enjoy and spend happy memories with family and friends. No one wanted to leave :)

We stayed at Redgate Farmstay in the Homestead, which is set in a beautiful location and has so much potential.

We booked months in advance for a family Easter weekend. Unfortunately, overall, it was a disappointing experience and did not meet our expectations. We felt that the property had not been properly cleaned, tidied and prepared for guest arrival. Most of the images included in this review were taken at the time of check in. On arrival, some beds were not made up and dishes were left in the kitchen sink. We considered the overall cleanliness unsatisfactory. The freezer contained food, leaving little space for our own food and the cupboards were packed with half-used items, also leaving little space for guests. We could not use the bedroom cupboards as they were either full, unclean and/or difficult to open. We found the beds to be uncomfortable. In one of the guest rooms made up for us, there was a spare mattress just left leaning against the window, adding to the sense that the place had not been properly prepared before arrival. The games room was not clean, icontained cobwebs and dead insects, and almost all the ping pong balls were broken. We were promised they would be replaced, but this did not occur. The host did arrange for the maintenance team to clean the games room after we raised some issues. The board games and puzzles had parts, cards and/or dice missing. We found that the hot tub was not clean and did not smell good. The host arranged for the maintenance team to return clean the hot tub, but it did not seem to make much of a difference. We did not use it at all. We were unable to enjoy many of the amenities. When we arrived, the BBQ had no gas. It was eventually provided hours later, and impacted on our dining plans. The front door did not work and our message to the host in this regard was left unanswered.

Beautiful surroundings and animals- a peaceful location filled with natural beauty. We enjoyed the games room and jacuzzi.

There was a lot of rubbish around the property and the beds were uncomfortable. The house felt dated. To be honest, we had a fairly positive experience until my elderly father tripped over a cord that broke a lamp. I disclosed this and offered to pay. I found the exact lamp on Kmart (2 for $35), but they told us they had purchased matching lamps on Temple and Webster since the message came through- wanting to charge us $200. So unreasonable and we felt like they were taking advantage of us. This left us feeling disappointed - we wouldn’t return nor would we recommend staying with this host.

Great Farmstay and there is a lot going on here. We only stayed for a weekend to visit the Glow worm Tunnel and Zig Zag Railway so was a busy weekend. Still managed a bbq, spa, several property walks and the views.

Peaceful surroundings,, plenty to keep everyone amused both children and adults.

Loved waking up and seeing the kangaroos in the morning. The kids loved all the activities, load of time on the trampoline and in the games room and going for walks. My favorite was the fireplace keeping the kitchen warm as we played board games and shared meals.

A couple of cleanliness issues. Sadly the spa didn’t work well, getting down to 21 degrees and wasn’t sure the water was filtering properly as it was quite yellow, maybe that’s just the use of rain water though.
