La Muñequita is one of those rare treasures that stays in your heart long after you leave. Three years ago, I came here alone, and the experience was so magical that it became one of the most beautiful moments of my life – without a doubt the very best I had in Costa Rica. From the first moment, I was welcomed not as a guest, but as part of the family. The kindness, joy, and genuine warmth and positivity of Heyner and his wife are simply beyond words. Returning this year was not a choice – it was a necessity. And again, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Waking up to the peaceful sounds of nature, breathing in the fresh air, and feeling that deep serenity that only this place can give… it’s like the world slows down and your soul smiles. Every detail here is infused with love – from the way they greet you in the morning, to the stories they share, to the care they put into every little thing. This is not just accommodation; it’s an embrace, an unforgettable chapter in your life. If you are looking for more than a place to sleep – if you want to feel at home, in the heart of Costa Rica’s beauty, surrounded by people who truly care – La Muñequita is your place. 🌿💛 I can highly recommend. Een echte aanrader! Zeer vriendelijke familie, je ervaart hoe het er echt aan toe gaat op de boerderij!! Je slaapt midden in de jungle, een fijne beleving!

Most friendly people you can wish to meet. Great food and a lovely apartment. Right in the jungle. Bikes were available and we sang some great karaoke with the owner. Definitely recommend! Pura Vida!

Forewarning: this is a farm offering authentic rustic experience, make sure this is what you are looking for. Spacious, clean house (rustic buildout), authentic local experience and connection with nature through lush vegetation, sightings and sounds from wildlife, bright stars in the sky, etc. Hosts working to enable all this and also serving tasty typical food (e. g. traditional soup from veal, increible). We appreciated the mosquito nets. A chance to socialize and learn about the lives of other travellers and of the hosts and other local people helping us with our travel. We found the location very strategic-allowing us to explore the nearby sights (Corcovado, Isla del Caño) and also continue our onward journey to Panama.

Not really something we didn’t like, just something to understand-this isn’t a touristy area, so at times the communication and information was difficult to understand, hence make sure to double check everything and put some buffers into your plans and resources (e. g. cash to pay for services).

Completely in nature. You stay in these beautiful open bungalows the midst of a tropical farming paradise. The family owning this place is just the best. They are truly heartwarming.

This was the best accommodation experience of our trip to Costa Rica. To say that this family is friendly would be a huge understatement, they are THE LOVELIEST HOSTS and were kind enough to tell us the whole story of their property, their region, their family... Heyner and Jenny welcomed us after 8pm with an awesome dinner, gave us a tour of the cabin, made us breakfast every day, introduced us to their volunteers, etc. They truly let us into their daily lives and welcomed us as if we were family, for real! I would return to the Muñequita Lodge again and again, if I could, even as a volunteer. The tour that Heyner suggested for Corcovado was 100% worth it, and they can also take you in the jungle with their horses for those who like horses 🐴 Cherry on top: Jenny's meals that were fantastic, muchissimas gracias a ustedes 💕

Our stay at this wonderful family farm lodge was unforgettable! Nestled in open nature, the lodge is very clean and offers an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. The family’s warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home. Dinner here is a must—the food was hands-down the best we had in Costa Rica, filled with fresh, local flavors. This place is perfect for any traveler, and it’s also a fantastic opportunity for volunteers looking for an authentic experience. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Costa Rica!

Out of the way accommodation, friendly family

They invited me to dinner but I was expected to pay later an additional $20. They tried to get me to sign up for a lot of promotions or pay for extras. WiFi was only at their house, not where you stay. A bat was living in my hut.
