Having followed the Horse & Groom Instagram account which was hugely inspiring, I was so disappointed with my visit.

There was a wedding reception or similar, taking place during the afternoon and evening of my stay, which I had not been advised of when booking. As this is a pub venue, it would have been helpful to have been made aware of this in advance. My ground floor room (Stoke) was beside a small courtyard, with a nearby door that was constantly being opened and closed throughout the evening. The room itself was small and rather dark, and the bathroom extremely compact, with the door opening directly into the edge of the bed. The main issue, however, was a constant humming/vibration noise coming from the kitchen next door, which continued through the night. I raised this with the Duty Manager at around 11pm and was assured the kitchen equipment would be turned off shortly, but the noise continued all night. I could have overlooked the small and disappointing room, although at £168 per night I would have expected better. What was unacceptable was the continual disturbance and resulting lack of sleep. An apology was offered the following morning, along with a 50% refund, but this did not make up for the inconvenience or the impact of a sleepless night.
