Great view of water from facility. Good breakfast.

Put in room with separate bathroom initially. We were not aware of that from reservation. Paid additional for connected batrhroom.

"Overall, it was a very nice stay, and we enjoyed it"

Location has breathtaking views and is close to everything. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

Breakfast can have more variety. Breakfast is modest, but it was part of the description, so we did not expect much.

"Excellent waterfront option for staying in Baddeck"

10.0

This place is a fantastic option in Baddeck. During our travels, we stay in all types of lodging. We're seeing more and more of this sort of place... a B&B feel, but not all of the frilly nature and hosts waiting on you hand and foot. The location of the Dunlop just can't be beat. It is right on the waterfront on a protected cove of Bras d'Or Lake. Not only that, it has its own private deck and boardwalk right on the edge of the water. The main pier is just a short walk away. There, you will find one of the best restaurants in town and a really great tour boat operator. If you walk out the front door, you're just blocks away from the middle of Baddeck. In addition, this inn has its own private gravel parking area right next to the historic building. The rooms and the entire inn have been updated very nicely, too. We stayed in the Garden Room on the second floor, which faces the street (but not the water). It was very clean, and the window A/C unit kept the room very comfortable. It was hot while we were in town with temperatures in the high 80's Fahrenheit. The shower in that room is a huge walk-in, and the sink is out in the corner of the very large bedroom. We definitely made use of the outdoor boardwalk and very nice Adirondack chairs. We watched the full moon rise right over the bay, which was loaded with anchored sailboats. The lighthouse is just across the water, too. Breakfast here is advertised as continental, but we really felt like it was quite a few steps above that. We had options of fresh drip coffee, hard-boiled eggs, toast, some fresh scones from the bakery down the street, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and I believe you could get cereal and milk as well. The dining space is very large, with room to spread out. The Alexander Graham Bell historic site and museum is almost straight across the street from the inn, too. I'd say that by far the best selling point of staying here is that you'll only have a max of 4 other couples staying in the other rooms, so you get a lot of privacy. The key is the waterfront location, with a patio and boardwalk that is private just to people staying at the Dunlop. If we return to Baddeck, we would absolutely stay here again.
