"Cotswold break"

9.0

Hosts were wonderful, friendly and very helpful. Very good Greek food and good continental breakfast served in lovely surroundings.

Although I didn't mention it at the time I think a non slip mat in the shower would be useful.

"Good choice near Banbury."

9.0

This place is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s a lovely old thatched pub with a few rooms in an old village called Swalcliff (which we had never heard of - but it’s lovely). The staff were welcoming and friendly and very attentive. We had supper there and there was a good choice on the menu at reasonable prices. We both enjoyed what we chose. Again, staff were friendly and attentive.

Parking is a bit of a problem, as it doesn’t have its own car park. Breakfast was nicely presented and plenty really, but there’s no cooked option. Our room was a bit small. But clean, and okay for one night.

"An English pub at it's best"

9.0

The rural location of the Stag's Head, very much the archetypal English pub, added to the excellent service by all the staff and the superb food made this an ideal stay.

"Exceptional"

9.0

Extremely pretty hotel, beautifully decorated rooms (ours was swallow themed). The Greek owner was lovely, we had the Greek food cooked by his wife for dinner, it was delicious. No hot breakfast but the fruit, cereals, yoghurt, toast, juice, tea and coffee were good. Maybe not all rooms do but ours had the cutest tiny fridge with milk in it : ) The little town the hotel is in is such a pretty Cotswalds village, I encourage you to take a walk around and admire the houses, gardens and church

The hotel is actually in Swalcliffe, not Banbury, so you won't be able to walk to any shops etc. Just street parking with only one or 2 spots right there, however we got a spot
