The Cross Keys, Aldeburgh

Charming 16th century pub with a few rooms. Great location in Aldeburgh. The breakfast was really delicious. Staff were very friendly.

We had seagulls nesting on a flat roof outside our bedroom window and the noise from them started at 4.30am! It was raucous and I couldn’t sleep through it. We were late arriving due to a traffic issue and the kitchen was closed by 9pm so there was no possibility of getting something to eat.

Food was good, though menu choices were a bit limited with the same choices each day of our stay. however all our meals were excellent, especially the fish pie in the evening and the omlett for breakfast. All members of staff were friendly and helpful, especially Zee ( I think that's the spelling) who is a born entertainer. Lovely atmosphere and customers dogs were a bonus, so well behaved. Loved the old timbers and to think merchants and other travellers may well have stayed in our very room since the middle ages. I would recommend Cross keys to anyone with a feeling for peace and quiet, history and good beer.

The room overlooked the sea. It was large and very comfortable. The pub had a good atmosphere and the service and our evening dinner was excellent. In the morning Zee was very welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was well cooked, tasty and plentiful.

We loved our stay here. The bed was super comfy and the shower excellent. And the breakfast menu had a great choice - two courses and as much coffee as we wanted. All the staff were professional and helpful but also great fun to be around. And the pub has the beach right in front and the town seconds away. Loved it - and will be back.

I adored the cosy atmosphere of the Cross Keys Inn. Staff were friendly and breakfast was delicious. Well-situated in Aldeburgh. Close to High Street and beach.
