Kokonoe Machiya

Scelto perché vicino al castello Nijo, ci si arriva a piedi, e pratico anche se si vuole visitare il palazzo imperiale di Kyoto. Quindi posizione ottima in questo senso. Bellissima la possibilità di soggiornare in una tipica casa giapponese. Restaurata in maniera impeccabile. La mia stanza era spaziosa e i bagni erano sempre puliti. Molto bella la sala comune con l'horigotatsu. Cucina usata poco ma completa di tutto.

Non sono immediati nel rispondere, ma è normale essendo a gestione familiare.

My partner and I stayed in the private double room. It was cosy and comfortable. We had to share the facilities but honestly - they were exceptionally clean and genuinely lovely, the showers were particularly good! We stayed for 5 nights and it was exactly what we needed, we were out all day sightseeing so, when we got back we just collapsed in to our futons for a quiet and comfortable nights sleep. Toni was very helpful, friendly and welcoming and had excellent advice. He makes the property what it is :)

Honestly it was all wonderful - just to bear in mind, Kyoto is HUGE and anywhere you are there is a minimum of 20 mins from anything but the buses are EXCELLENT, cheap and easy to use. So please make use of them to get about :)

Toni, the owner, is very helpful and polite. He also gave me very good tips on things to do around Kyoto and places to try delicious food. The guest house looks traditional with the modern amenities we are used to. Very quiet and really well connected with public transport in Kyoto!

If you are above 1.80m you might need to watch your head sometimes 🤣
