The Strawbury Duck Inn

Beautiful location, very peaceful. Friendly and helpful staff. Varied menu and lots of local produce. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

It's a fun location, right next to the train station and a superb reservoir walk (approx 3 miles). Combined with a lovely British pub menu that has dashes of international interest like a hanging tikka kebab. Our room, the private bathroom, had a nice bath, a view of some fields (over the car park) and really was great for the single night we stayed. English breakfast in the morning was extensive and tasty.

Not much to be honest, this place delivered what it promised and felt like good value if what you want is a room, a pub, a British pub dinner (extra) and a tasty breakfast (only available 8-9am)

The setting. The food. The beer choice and cosy room and comfy bed.

Nothing. Maybe a seating area to enjoy a quiet, comfortable drink after an enjoyable meal rather than staying at a table?

Thought restricting breakfast to one hot drink was a bit odd. I don't think I've ever seen that actually spelled out before.. I would have liked to have had the omelette.. it was advertised on the menu in the room but when in the restaurant it wasn't there any more.. (I didn't actually ask so it could have been that someone could have made me one.. but hey ho). I had brought my own cosmetics but I did think the shower gel/shampoo were in super tiny bottles.. not sure if I'd needed them it would have been enough..

The room was very hot and there was no way of switching off the radiator, only a small window in the room could be used to bring fresh air so we had to prop open the door and the bathroom door across the landing. Not ideal

It is set in a beautiful spot in the countryside All the staff are friendly and cater for your every need
