Linen was clean and mattress was reasonably comfortable.

Unsafe security: street door permanently unlocked and room door lock so poorly fitted it could be “loided” by a 5 year old. Inadequate curtains allowed full sun by about 4am. Dangerously slippery bath and bathroom floor with no bath mat. Trip risk mat and sharp spike sticking out of carpet. Broken furniture. Loose toilet seat. Loose un-grouted floor tiles. Extremely poorly finished decor. Apart from superficial cleaning of visible carpet and bathroom fittings the place was utterly filthy.

Nothing except we could get a room at short notice

Far too loud, dreadful modern music which continued long after we had gone to bed, which meant I could not sleep. Even when the music stopped, the man in the next room behind us made about five phone calls and spoke so loudly that I could make out a lot of what he was saying as the room was not sound insulated. I had to ask for fresh milk for the room; they said they didn't know if they had any, and one man even told me to go down the road to buy some from a shop! They eventually found some! We wanted to charge our phones up, but the extension lead provided showed evidence of having overheated, so we didn't bother. In the middle of the night, I was woken by a click and a red light. It was the kettle, which we had not so far used, turning itself on! It then turned itself off, but when I went to fill it up in the morning, it was very hot. We consider this to be a real fire hazard. The lighting in the room was very poor; no bedside lamps, and only one ceiling light, which was poorly situated, so I was unable to read my book during the period when music and phone calls rendered sleep for me impossible. (My husband is deaf so it did not affect him at all.) When I went to get a shower, the control unit was so high that I could not reach to turn it on! My husband could only just reach. When we left, there was no-one around to report these problems to. An experience not to be repeated!

They advertised that they did food, now they don't. No air con or fan in the room The wash basin had not been cleaned for some time The shower/wc/whb pod wasn't cleaned and was poorly fitted The room I had was above where all the pub locals congregated to smoke- noise and smoke fumes through the single glazed open window Extremely noisy hotel guests, banging doors and shouting through the night
