"Very nice people, sweet old space, but it’s dated and shabby."

Location was good. Close to the little town and walkable to Melones, Tamarindo and Flamenco beaches if you are a walker. The owner ladies are friendly and the back yard is a nice peaceful space in the afternooon. Beach towels provided and snorkel gear available for rent. The a/c was effective, (although the remote control went on the fritz the last night and got stuck on 72 which was fine).

As you’ll see in all the reviews, cleanliness isn’t great. Rooms are noisy (you can hear the owners upstairs moving around, coughing etc). The smell of cigarette smoke, and tomcat musk was fairly prevalent too. Not from guests, but the owners are heavy smokers. The bathroom got water on the floor from a leaky faucet pipe when we used the sink. It did dry up afterwards, but annoying. And the handle of the shower came off and took some struggling to get back on to adjust or turn the water off. Also, the window screens (or the defunct A/C unit in the wall), let mosquitoes in. Basically, it’s time for this operation to get a major overhaul. Running this kind of thing takes a lot of work and energy to do right. There comes a point to hand it off to someone else.

"Home away from home in paradise."

Palmetto feels like home away from home! It has a small living room 2 kitchen areas that are shared. A very nice back yard. With swing chairs, and many areas to relax, read or hang out. Paco the parrot was so eager to interact . The room is comfortable and the shower was nice. The owners are friendly and if you need anything they will help right away. The price was also good. We stayed in the family room.

Needed a little better upkeep. This is my 3rd time staying there and the first time I find something not perfect. But the owners were sick so it’s understandable. The backyard needed a sweep from leaves. Which I did myself. Just because that’s what I would do if it was my house LOL. And just general details that could be better. Overall it was good and we will definitely be back.
