Nothing major

Very clean! I really liked the hosts — they were very kind and helpful! My room was located right next to all the cafes and restaurants, and very close to the rock. They told me the best time to climb, how to get there, and even gave me a sweater since I didn’t bring one for the hike. The host’s mother made delicious tea! I stayed alone in a room with two big beds — such a great price!

No air-conditioning.

We had a pleasant one-night stay at Kalana. The property is located right in the center, on the main street, and within walking distance to Sigiriya, which was very convenient. The rooms are simple but have everything you need for a short stay. Just be aware that there is no air conditioning – it was fine for us, but it might be uncomfortable for guests sensitive to heat and humidity. One important thing to note: in the morning, monkeys come around the area. It's best to keep all your belongings inside and not leave anything on the terrace table, as they can grab or damage items. The owner is very kind and helpful, and made us feel welcome. Overall, a good place for a short stop in a great location!
