The Balerno Inn

Room was small but well-equipped. Lovely location.

A little more space for clothes / baggage storage

The room was a good size, clean and had a good ensuite. The breakfast suited me as it was a simply help yourself to cereal etc. The pub/restaurant was very good and the food was excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I had no need to use the wifi as the mobile signal there is excellent.

The only minor criticisms are the lack of a desk and chair to be able to do some work in the room. The shower was electric and not much power. The mattress was a little lumpy/hard. These are only minor issues and shouldn't put anyone off.

Charming pub in a charming village. The staff were all attentive and pleasant. They called to check when we’d be arriving and to see if we’d want to eat in the restaurant ahead of it closing for the evening.

The room we were in was opposite the pub’s kitchen. The kitchen door was open and the sound of music and the kitchen carried into our room. There really wasn’t any sound insulation at all so you couldn’t relax should you want to. The skirting in the room was in need of a good dusting too. They serve a “grab and go” breakfast, which is a nice idea, though the pastries sit overnight in clingfilm and tasted of plastic come morning.

Small Inn, with good restaurant and bar. Room was very comfortable, very cleverly designed and characterful. Good continental style breakfast available. Staff welcoming and efficient.

We were mostly happy with our stay.

Slightly noisy in the rooms when people are moving around but not a lot the hotel staff can do about it!
