Casa Mayela Guest House

This is the perfect guest house for a short stay in San José. It’s close to the centre, in a safe area, and has such a welcoming feel. Paula, the owner, is absolutely lovely and made us feel right at home. We really enjoyed our two-night stay and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere comfortable and convenient before heading off to explore the rest of Costa Rica. It worked perfectly for us.

It is quite noisy in the morning but it didn't really bother us. We were up early anyhow. Otherwise it was spot on!

Es war sehr sauber und das Personal außerordentlich freundlich. Ich habe eine Nacht dort verbracht und war sehr zufrieden mit meinem Aufenthalt. Man hört natürlich wegen der praktischen Lage auch den Verkehr...

L'accueil de Mayela. La proximité du centre. La propreté de la chambre et de la cuisine. Nous avons apprécié de pouvoir prendre le petit déjeuner à la casa. Le wifi marchait très bien.

I loved the lady taking care of it most of all: what a lovely human being ! The room was beautiful and sparkling clean. The architecture was in my favorite style: high ceilings, vintage skylights, sigh! Speaking of architecture, what I loved so much about the place that it will persist in my dreams is the courtyard in the heart of the house. As I sat reading my book in the chair hammocks I enjoyed the chirping of the little birds on the bird feeder next to the palm that grew up to the ceiling. The best part is that the birds were safe and fed but not caged. The ceiling had slots in its pyramid detail. The birds could come stay as long as they wanted and then were able to freely fly in the big world. I wish for all of earths creatures to have a little piece of heaven that you can find in this home in the heart of San Jose.

This is not the fault of the property but I found the apps for uber and google maps suddenly guiding me to the wrong place after I put in the address. I suggest using the name of the little park next door for navigation
