38PC Boutique Hotel

Starting from the outside, there are two first-come, first-serve car parks in front of the hotel. Rooms are clean, big and have decent amenities (free soap, dental kit). One prayer mat is provided. They also gave two bottles of water and two cans of soft drink in the fridge. Bathroom/toilet is big and there's a clear separation from the beds. Hot water is nice and immediate (don't have to wait for water to heat up). There's also TV and hair dryer, but we didn't use them. Location is quite central, near Pekan Rabu and other attractions. You can pay the deposit either by cash/QR, which was refunded almost immediately after checking out.

I would have given this place an easy 9+/10 if not for one thing: the soundproofing is super bad. Like not even exaggerating. A normal conversation down the alley sounded like they were talking outside your door. It is actually worse if you get the balcony room (street-facing) since the nearby club will have live performances close until midnight. Other general comments, but not an issue for me: 1) Not very mobility friendly. Several flights of stairs to get to the room. 2) Located in Pekan Cina area, so need to walk further to get Halal food. 3) Staff will leave after all the guests have checked in for the day. 4) The wooden floors are very creaky.

Funky design and very interesting building. Location was convenient in Chinatown.

Key deposit of MYR100 could only be made in cash (or through some local banking app), which sucked up a big portion of my available MYR at check-in. I am staying in Malaysia for a short holiday and therefore don't carry a lot of MYR. Also, I do not want a lot of excess local currency returned to me right before I depart Malaysia. Highly annoying policy.

Property was unique in design. Had to walk past a koi fish pond to get to our room. Room was spacious

No door between the bathroom and the bedroom. Only a certain. Not much hot water for showers either.

Full of character. Excellent location. Comfy bed. Free drinks in minibar. Rooftop swimming pool. Parking available free of charge

Swimming pool a bit small. Not much info on Alor Setar available. Would have been nice to have kettle in room (hot water available in reception). Only 3 coathangers

No breakfast. The room was as expected and good value for the price paid

Music playing late at night, not from the hotel but from outside venue. We paid a deposit for our stay which would be refunded. When we were leaving at 09.30 the staff on duty was unable to repay the deposi5 due to no cash in the safe As. We had a train to catch another customer refunded us the money which hopefully they were refunded.

Location is good. many restaurants nearby walking distance.

creaking floors when you walk. loud music from a nearby bar/restaurant till late night. should provide at least 2 complimentary toothbrushes instead of the paying box in the room. and provide more shower gel instead of the small bottles given.
