Friendly staff, clean bed linen and towels, great shower with lots of hot water

Room is not welcoming, outdated decor and bedstead looked grimy (pale coloured fabric with marks, not the metal bed shown on the booking info). Carpeted stairs up to the room were dirty and smelt of wet dog. Old sash windows facing road which had lights plugged in through them meaning they could not be fully closed. Curtains were thin (see photo of them closed at night showing amount of light coming through) and offered no light or noise deterrent whatsoever. I get its an old property and double glazing not an option, but thick sound deadening and black out curtains would go along way to cheaply solve the issues. I sleep with headphones/mask and still was woken by noise from outside the pub throughout the night and early in the morning, not noise from the pub itself which I would have expected. This was not old-worldy charm, it just felt tatty and unkempt. Vastly overpriced for both the room and food which was basic at best. We were left tired and disappointed and felt the accommodation relied on its location for charging the extortionate amount for the room.

We just stayed one night and we didn’t arrive until 9pm but they very kindly allowed us to pre-order supper over the phone which was ready for us on arrival. The room was comfortable although only one pillow each was provided. Breakfast was delicious.

A second pillow each would have been nice.

Breakfasts and staff were very good the downside was that the room was quite small , the shower was difficult to operate and very noisy early in the morning (5.30) when the suppliers unloaded I should have realised as it is in the centre of Megavissey! The staff though were excellent.
