The White Hart Hotel

Breakfast was excellent & the best part of my stay.

I could only have a shower if I stood on the plug hole. Only the hot tap could be used. I doubt the staff have sat on any chair in the hotel as all are so old the filling is virtually none existent. The staff in the bar prefer to chat & serve the locals first. I asked for a sandwich which was promptly served but with a small amount of salad. No utensils were provided. I asked for a knife & fork. The staff member “huffed” & turned around immediately. I then had to ask for some salt & pepper. The staff member said “ Do you want me to eat it for you as well” Unbelievable.

We liked the atmosphere, friendly staff, location and the really good breakfast. We had a lovely room right over the main entrance with a great view of Gayle habour.

The room although a good location could do with a bit of renovation. Still, we really had a good, comfortable stay and felt at home here.

For us, we were after a quiet night. With hindsight, we should not have chosen a pub. No fault of the pub, but there happened to be live music that night, and as it was a warm evening, customers were spilling out onto the pavement that was just below our room. If we were not for a quiet night, we should have joined them, and then it would have been fine!

Meeting Ruth to check us in, she was a delight. And then every single member of staff we met was also a delight - Great breakfast from Manchester John, really accommodating for anything we wanted. Room (1) was very spacious, and once the radiator was turned up, adequately warm on a couple of very cold nights outside. Parking available, which is a plus and a 2 minut walk to the station if you want to jump off or on the train. Ended up staying in the hotel on NYE with the Silver Bullet duo - but that wasnt the entertainment, the local clientele were awesome and equally as friendly as the staff - Overall a terrific stay with everything we needed, if a little pricey for the facilities.

Bathroom radiator didnt work so took a while to warm that room by leaving the bedroom door open - Other than that, everything was absolutely great
