Wayside Lodge

Beautiful location. Lovely, tastefully decorated rooms. Excellent, personal service by owners

First of all, keep in mind it's pretty cheap you get what you pay for, it's a basic roadside motel. The location as a midway stop between Kruger/JoB is superconvenient just off the highway. The rooms were spacious but basic. A little tired, a little shabby. Except the bed and bedding, which was 4starplus. The TV kind of worked, but the shower was good and hot. Fridge, kettle, air-conditioning all ok. The staff were helpful and friendly. The bar sold cold beer and reasonable wine. As a stopover, it worked

No WiFi on the rooms. Dinner was quite good but overpriced for what it was (by SA standards) And we were just unlucky that there was a big group booked in on some kind of team building course so strange goings on in the communal areas, including a 7am volleyball game on the front lawn.

Hosts welcomed me very friendly. Breakfast was good. The location and the scenery are beautiful. Will definitely sleepover there again

Cleaners shouldn't knock on the door before check out time. They disturbed me while I was peacefully sleeping

It is a very convenient stop enroute from Johannesburg OR Tambo airport to Kruger Park. It is quaint spot with full breakfast & dinner available on request. There is also a bar, pool table & free WIFI. We have stayed here before. Pierre the owner was as welcoming & helpful as ever.

We did an overnight on our way to the Kruger, and it was exceptional. The rooms were neat and clean, beds were comfy and the shower was hot. Our host Pierre went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable and looked after. We arranged for dinner and breakfast at the lodge, both of which were absolutely superb. Very glad that we came across this gem, very convenient if needing an overnight stop on the way to the Kruger area. Wouldn't think twice to book again.

The only downside that I can think of, which is obviously not the Lodges' fault, is the proximity to the N4. The traffic noise was quite noisy through the night, however it would not put me off of booking up again.
