Very friendly staff and good atmosphere

Everything! The location is excellent being fairly quiet yet less than 10 minutes from the M11 and even closer to a Park & Ride, with free parking and buses into the city centre every 10 minutes. There's a large car-park on the premises and a large, partly covered beer garden at the rear. The room was clean and tidy, furniture was in good condition and the air conditioning workd perfectly (and very quietly). The beds were comfy (although the duvets were a bit on the heavy side) and although quite small the room was spacious enough for our needs. The shower worked fine with hot water in abundance. An excellent 'Full English' breakfast is served as well as other options for the faint-hearted and they're happy to change the selection if there's something you don't like. For me the only 'down mark' was having the baked beans served in a small pot, rather than on the plate. It's one of my pet hates but hey, we all have them! We only stayed for 1 night and we booked in for an evening meal too. It was mid-week and therefore quiet in the restuarant but the service and attention we received was first class. The menu was fairly typical of pub restaurants with a few 'specials' available but what may have been lacking in choice was more than made up for by the quality of food and the service provided. The waiter-cum-barman-cum-manager was friendly and chatty (but not overly so) and clearly had an extensive knowledge of what was being served. The food itself couldn't have been better, there were 4 of us eating and we all had perfectly cooked food which had been carefully arranged on the plates. Whether that standard is maintained when they're busy I can't say but for our visit it was exceptional. This was a one night stop-over for us but would we use it again - you bet we would! For good value accommodation, excellent food in a good location this would be hard to beat.

To criticise anything is merely nit-picking, none of which spoilt our stay anyway: *Having struggled through an awkward front & porch door we then had to go to the back of the building to check-in. Better signage directing you to the back door would help. * The standby LED's on the air conditioning unit and the TV were very bright. * The front door was difficult to unlock.

Check in 4pm and all paperwork for location in room. Would be great to access this information on arrival to make the most of seeing the area

Super friendly staff. The location was easy to find and very convenient for what I needed to do in Cambridge. Food for dinner was great bald and options especially on a Sunday evening

Rooms a little tired. Heater was very noisy even when turned off the electricity was humming so I needed to switch it off at the wall
