The staff and locals. The fresh food in the pub and breakfast.

The mattress was very hard on the bed. The bedroom was beautiful and clean. All coffes and toiletries provided. Beautiful service.

Pub was lovely, great thai food, lovely room (deluxe) continental breakfast has plenty of choice with lovely service.

TV only had one working channel, we mentioned this at breakfast on the first morning (stayed 2 nights) but nothing happened, not a lot of time spent in the room but we paid for deluxe room so would expect a fully working TV. Also the staircase leading to accommodation needs updating and new carpet.

A beautifully maintained historic building with a wonderful atmosphere. The welcome was the warmest I’ve had anywhere. The food was fantastic.

There is no parking there, but there is a free car park a short walk away.

Great setting, comfortable room with all we needed. Loved the artistic decor.

Great atmosphere and location

The bed was fairly hard

Very outdated hotel and rooms that are in need of major upgrades. Mattress left in corridor. Carpets need upgrading by as do the bathroom facilities. No hot breakfast offered, only continental, encourage to eat at a nearby cafe. We didn’t stay for breakfast. No onsite parking.

An absolute superb continental breakfast - so much choice, location sensational and retro room was charming

The mid-century modern decor of the room, the quality of the tea and coffee set and the cleanliness and comfort of the room. I also liked the ale selection at the bar and the Thai food served.

Not the fault of the pub itself, but the local council should make clear that the Towngate Car Park is more intended for local residents, the Bowls Club car park, 3 minutes walk away is better for visitors.

The Cross Inn is a pub with rooms, which is what we were looking for. The pub is marvellous, with very good beers on sale. It also offers a Thai food menu (unexpected) with an excellent Thai chef who asks doesn't hide in the kitchen, she asks people if they like the food, she also dealt with breakfast and check-out. Breakfast was continental, but we were advised that the Tea room just a few strides away do a full English, which we did and it was very good. The location is quaint - cobbled street on a hill. Parking is behind the tearoom on a free public car park.

Not much, it did what we wanted perfectly. I turned up on a motorbike, and initially I was unsure of the parking arrangements, because you couldn't park on the road, it's either too steep, cobbled or likely to get a knock from a passing car, but the carpark is big enough, although still sloping. Perfectly fine for a car. We slept in room 5 which was good, but had no chair.
