The staff are the best - Gemma especially at dinner. Nothing was too much trouble. Such a lovely pub and facilities!

Location was perfect for us as we were headed to Grimsthorpe Castle. We received a warm welcome after a long 6 hour drive from the South, and were shown our rooms once we were booked in. The room was very comfortable with a lovely large bed and ensuite bathroom, all very spacious. Our hosts reserve a table for staying guests so we ate in. The restaurant was busy with locals alike but the food was scrumptious, beautifully prepared and the staff attentive and friendly. Our second night was our anniversary, and the again the food was delicious, with lovely little touches to make the meal a little more special. Breakfast choice was absolutely superb! We would definitely recommend the Woodhouse Arms as a place to stay and will no doubt be coming back again at some point.

Welcome! It was almost as good as a HUG. Lovely lady, bouncy, ebullient, excited, and made me feel in the right place straight away. The room was immaculate, beautifully equipped and presented, with a great tea tray with biscuits and hot chocolate to die for. I slept superbly, after a slightly challenging shower. The shower has three modes of operation, one of which is for a bath, but getting the water to come out as you expected and where you expected proved fun. But I did it again before breakfast and was highly satisfied with the result. My night was quiet and I slept comfortably. The WiFi was good enough and I found sockets sufficient to charge my phone, my laptop, my cameras and my bedside alarm. Breakfast was ordered before you went to bed and then cooked to order. It was superb, with quality ingredients beautifully prepared and presented. Not a sign of a self-service buffet with powdered scrambled eggs and cheap baked beans going dry under the heat lamps. I didn't want to leave. I shall come back here for next year's FOTU.
