Inn Unkai no Sato no Yado 民宿 雲海の里の宿

A delightful guest house, situated in a quiet spot about 15 mins drive from Koyasan. The hostess was absolutely wonderful and made us very welcome. She spoke a little English, and also used Google translate which meant there were no communication problems at all. The house is charming We enjoyed an excellent night's sleep on comfortable futons in a Tatami room overlooking the garden and a delicious breakfast (with a choice of continental or local cuisine). Would highly recommend!

We found it almost impossible to cancel our reservation for March 8th. We were able to reach the proprietor by phone but she claimed to be busy and said she spoke little English. Calling many times a week in advance we were never able to speak with her again. Reaching booking dot com was difficult as well. I’ll take the blame for not having all my paperwork, but still had enough info that only needed cooperation on either companies part.

Kaako was the kindest, thoughtfull person you could imagine, proud and eager to talk about her region, and willing to help you with everything you would need, hiking advice, transportation, etc... She is also an amazing cook, I had the best meals of my trip there ! Fully recommended if you love hiking, sightseeing, eating of course, and Koyasan is just 15 minutes by car. What else? The floor in the room has heating ! How great is that?

Good place for a stay near Koyasan. Kaako is very friendly, helpful and a great cook. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast. I totally recommend this place.

Kaako was a very welcoming and helpful host and her accommodation is beautiful, quiet and cosy, and her dinners and breakfasts delicious. I enjoyed going walking around the village and it is convenient to get to Koyasan.

Kaako was a wonderful host and cook. It was great to experience a Japanese home and home cooking on the coldest day of our trip! The futon was very comfortable and the surrounding area was beautiful.
