"Wonderful peaceful location and a step back in time."

It was like stepping back in time 60yrs fantastic. Old wooden furniture a chill to the room and proper sash windows and a sink in the corner to wash your necessaries. Loved it.

"Cosy atmosphere pub full of charm and character"

8.0

The location is stunning. Arncliffe is a hidden gem. The pub is like going back in time and is very in keeping with the unspoilt area. Lots of quirky memorabilia around, proper beer and good food, roaring fires and a sense of charm and atmosphere. The rooms are better than the pictures, large and very comfy beds and plenty of space. Shared toilets and showers which were clear and hot, this didn't bother me although there was only one other guest staying so if the pub had been full this might have been an issue. Full hearty breakfast which was delicious and set me up for the day hiking. Caroline was friendly and very helpful, placing my boots by the fire to dry off for the morning. I felt very welcome and looked after. You could just wander around this place and be taken in by the character and antique collections, a truly special place.

The heating was a little slow to kick in which was annoying as I had stuff that needed drying for the next day but it wasn't the end of the world. Limited times for an evening meal (half an hour) which meant I had to go over the Kettlewell for food for tea - again not a massive issue but extended dining hours on a weekend might be helpful especially if the weather isn't great and you can't get elsewhere. The pub is decorated to look old and traditional and in keeping, you feel transported back in time which I found amazing but not to everyone's taste I'm sure. It certainly makes for a memorable visit however so I really liked the character of this. All in all, great places which served a purpose and I will be back.
