"Absolutely lost for words, well nearly! Don't expect a reply!"

1.0

Absolutely nothing!

Firstly we know we had a non refundable booking and after this review I am sure they won't even think of refunding even by exception. We arrived early, and we knew we couldn't check in until 3pm. That was not a problem. The problem we had was that when we arrived the first thing we saw on the door was that the hotel was closed until 5pm. We were met by worked in the bar, fitting a new till system, the next man we met explained that this was happening and he was also cleaning the beer pipes in the bar. No problem there as we were just going to be OK if we could get some sort if refreshments until such time we could check in and then relax and have a beer in the lounge area. Nope, thus was not the case as the hotel was closed until 5pm. What's the point of being able to check in t 3pm if the hotel doesn't open until 5pm. Then we asked aboit the food in the evening and we were told it was only a limited menu. There was nothing around fur any sirt of refreshments for at least 8 miles away in Dunoon. We headed there and discussed the Un welcome we had received and decided that it was not the type of place we would feel comfortable staying in. We can and have and did do better. Knowing that it was non refundable but with a small chance of even a part refund we cancelled our stay, in writing through booking.com explaining the reasons why. After several messages via booking.com we have received no response 3 days later. Poor customer service! And the cheek of it, we were sent messages from the hotel asking for a review of our stay and how our evening meal was. How the hotel can sell themselves with the statement they make on there website is beyond me. Customer care, absolutely not.

"Vue merveilleuse, calme et sérénité."

8.0

"Had a wonderful peaceful. Highly recommended"

A lovely old Inn by the side of Loch Eck. The view from the room was breathtaking. Staff were courteous and helpful. Food and drink available on site and was of a high standard.

The only downside was the steepness of the stair going up to the rooms but with plenty handrails in one soon got used to it.

"A traditional inn with a stunning vista."

8.0

Fantastic view from loch facing room. The bar was well stocked and had a live wildlife camera display to watch the feathered and furry locals. A cosy fireplace added to the charm. The staff were friendly and accommodating, sorting out a late breakfast for us at short notice - which was much appreciated. We very much enjoyed watching the golden eagles soaring over the crags opposite the hotel and watching an otter swim past.

We found the stair to the rooms in the Hotel quirky and manageable - however they may not suit all travellers. The Hotel does have associated glamping and annexe which may prove more suitable for those with mobility considerations.
