Great location. Helpful and friendly staff. Clean room. Car park directly opposite the hotel and the charges were very reasonable.

The room was very basic but had the essentials. The shower water pressure wasn’t great. It was very hot when we stayed and the windows opened fully from the bottom - it didn’t seem very safe! Noise from the pub could be heard through the windows, but to be expected when you book a room over a pub.

Friendly helpful staff, nice young man got the cases up the stairs when we arrived. Food was good and reasonably priced for a city venue. Location, good, easy walkable access to the main shopping areas, on a bus route (H) so no need to walk up or down the hill.

No clear information regarding when staff would be on site, (after the pub closed) or how to contact someone if needed. Three sets of victorian stairs, getting two cases and two bags down was not easy Karaoke/music from the bar, makes its way up the stairs direct to your room for free ! External lighting that glares through the window for hours (but not in time to the music) Broken window pane, partially sellotaped ! Window was difficult to close or keep partially open Beds looked and felt like a baby elephant had been a previous guest, had to use a pillow to fill the gap. Bathroom, awful; cramped, toilet didn’t flush properly, needed doing twice, every time. shower space looked nasty with patched silicone/grout that left gaps, turning brown, couldn’t face getting in it, so went to a friends for a shower instead. Taps too small to fill kettle, so bring your own water for a cuppa. Only 2 plug sockets, really ??

Fantastic central location just minutes from the station. Super handy to have a bar right downstairs. Very friendly staff.

I personally didn’t mind it at all but there was quite a bit of nightlife walking past until the early hours. I like the background noise but if you’re the sort of person who needs silence to sleep then I’d bring ear plugs.

Lightbulb needed over mirror in bathroom could be replaced

The staff were helpful and friendly.

The bed I slept in was so uncomfortable, apparently the bed base was broken. I did not sleep hardly at all the second night due to this issue. Noise until the early hours on the street also kept me awake. I did speak to the manager who was understanding but this obviously did not make up for the loss of sleep.

Nothing to dislike

Ideal location for uni open days, best slush puppie ever had warm pork scratchings nice touch, staff very friendly, karaoke down stairs but all quite by 11. Towels provided.

Shower could have been more powerful. Our room got invaded with thousands of midges from lights on and window open so had to spray them and keep windows shut so a fan would have been nice. Wanted to have breakfast but had to be at uni by 10 so couldn't because breakfast doesn't start until 10.

Friendly staff at check in. Good location for our University visit.

Friendly staff and enjoyed a lovely evening meal there.

The water didn't drain away in the shower tray very well despite removing the plug cover
