Auberge des Vergers

The room was very quiet and well laid out. The facilities were fine. The vicinity around was very unusual because there were no cars.

Method of access to the rooms should have ben clarified beforehand. The door was locked and we had to make a phone call to gain access. Apparently an email had been sent but traveling around we do not receive emails from the home PC . The accommodation in the Auberge was a set of rooms at the bottom of a large apartment block. The breakfast offer was very limited.

I must also add that the room allotted to me is in the basement. I have two very heavy trolleys full of my belongings. I am in distress and agonizing pain as my ankles are giving way. They pain severely and there is very little one can do. And I am sorry to say but no two rooms I have to stay in have a kettle or a balcony. Neither have a garden view. There are no private bathrooms and none are fitted with a private bathroom and bed linen.

There are no air-conditioners or fans in the room so one is therefore compelled to keep the window open. And to this is a folly. Since AdV shuts at precisely per their convenience. The atmosphere and mood are always hostile. At around midnight, I hear the creaking sounds. To my amazement, there is a face peering into my room through the window. Slyly trying to make his way in. The said person’s intentions were odious and were a burglar. I yelled as loud as I could to scare him away. I was successful. But at what cost? Since this incident at night, I have not been able to sleep. The emotional and mental distress this has caused me is unparalleled. I am in shock. I am an international civil servant working in the United Nations and this is the hospitality Geneva has shown me. I am quite amazed and disappointed.
