Quiet country pub

Great staff, incredible location. Lovely dinner and breakfast and great beer on tap.

Location is superb, Starbotton is delightful. Pub is quite small, super cute and refreshingly traditional, higgeldy piggeldy and untampered with, loved it! In the height of summer we could still smell the open fire remnants in building's DNA, a lovely sensory experience. Food was great, a compact, quite quirky menu, quality ingredients. We enjoyed what we ordered, it tasted great, was presented well and served unfussily in the pub. We all had full English breakfast (included and pre-ordered for 9am) and it was of very high quality. Good, well kept beers and a decent enough wine selection. Thoughtful options re breakfast and packed lunch for those early start walkers. We stayed in room 4 which was spacious, comfortable and with plenty of storage. Bed was lovely. I felt really at home and relaxed. Finally a shout out to Naomi. Customer service can often be bland for the recipient and thankless for the provider. Naomi was wonderful - warm, friendly, funny and really personalised our experience. Nothing was too much trouble and she went the extra mile - well done. Top marks The Fox! I really recommend this place for a short Dales break, it's a little gem with a lot of soul!

I didn't get a mushroom on my last full english breakfast but my companions did - needs to be consistent and as described. Small picky point.😉

Really friendly welcoming pub with great food and beer we walk the pike a few times each year and decided to stay over for partners birthday it was a real treat as we are busy farmers lower in the dale will certainly be back again

Lovely cosy pub and comfortable rooms, great location for hiking, great food, really friendly staff.

Maybe a slightly larger menu with more choice would have been good, however the food I had was lovely!

Shower room well fitted out but tight for space and electric shower was very variable in temperature

Lovely friendly welcome, first class room and facilities. Spotlessly clean. Extremely comfortable. Excellent pub. Fantastic food. Peaceful location. Last night of a weeks motorcycle trip. What a great place to finish off. Or start , or spend a week.
