Wells is a really beautiful city and The Crown is in its heart. I loved being right by the cathedral, even able to see it as I lay on my bed! The hotel is obviously old, and that is part of its charm. History everywhere! Yet the hotel is comfortable, the food is very good and all works well, despite the age. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

The bathroom was tiny - can’t be helped, but noticeable when you are not used to it. The floor is very creaky but we were not disturbed by our neighbours. The parking is very limited but the staff helped us park, as I was anxious about this, so we were very grateful.

Superb location just a few hundred yards from the cathedral. The history dating Bach hundreds of years is directly on this hotel’s doorstep

Great location, boutique shops, nice walks, Fields for dogs.

Our stay went very well. The staff were very nice and very helpful. The location was excellent and so was the standard of service and food. The bed was very comfortable and linen top class. All very good. The parking was very good for us too. The bedroom decor of our room at the top could do with a revamp as the wallpaper etc was rather dated. Nicer curtains and some kind of secondary window screening would have been good. I don't mean the old fashioned type of nets curtains but modern see through fabric and smooth rails for opening and closing nets easily would have been nice as we didn't feel that private when we wanted to dress or undress as we had to close the main curtains which blocked out the light. It is overlooked by other properties opposite so having a secondary screening is merely a suggestion as an improvement. . Overall the bedroom just needs a little modernisation to make it outstanding.

No lift but that can't be helped in this type of old property.

Wifi was not great. Lack of staff at breakfast. Parkign was advertised but incredibly limited and space for only 4 cars
